Venetian Bridge
This landmark of Argassi was built at the beginning of the 19th century. It was originally part of
the coastal road, starting at the church of St. Spiridon of Sgournes and ending at the Venetian
Vardiola just before Davia. Over time, the sea rose, and, alongside natural erosion, it covered
the road, leaving only parts of the bridge above water.
It is a beautiful spot of Zakynthos, and it’s almost poignant to think of all the carriages and
people in the past who took the bridge to travel around the island.
