Before Argasi's natural beauty begin to attract summer visitors, Argasi was a countryside location where locals cultivated vegetables and went fishing. Nowadays there are limited traditional cultivations such as the local small size Zakynthian strawberries which distinguish for their special aroma and are grown only in Argasi.

Mountain of Skopos

A beautiful trail From Argasi to explore the low Mountain of Skopos walking in a relatively approachable road that leads you to the peak of the mountain.At the heigth of 450 metres you will feel rewarded by the astonishing views of the island.The views make all the walk here worthwhile. In the rocky landscape is the imposing Monastery of Panagia Skopiotissa which was built in the mid of 15th century and is one of the distinctive Monasteries on the island. At this point there was the Temple of Artemis in ancient years.

On the hill of Argassi

1.4 km from city center of Argassi

The second route starts from the centre of Argasi and ascents to the hill's slope where the settlement lays. Passing through the spread out traditional houses ,you will be astonished by the verdant sceneries with olive groves as well as the lush green vegetation a "pandaisia" of colours, a heavenly colour feast of flowers such as local wild orchids. Looking at the horizon, the eyes are filled with the magnificent seaview in a nice picture frame of both Argasi and Town.

Zakynthos Town

A relaxing stroll down the coastal road of Argasi heading towards town ( preferably in the afternoon or evening) will offer you a magnificent view of the enlightened Town. On your route you will see the almost immersed ruins of the old bridge dated since the 19th cetury as well as the historic church of St Spyridon by the seashore.
